Charging stations
Car charging stations are infrastructure that allows electric vehicles to be charged. They provide the electricity needed to charge the car’s batteries, offering different types of charging – slow (AC charging) or fast (DC charging).
Charging stations are located in public areas, such as city streets, parking lots, car dealerships, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants and other places where electric vehicle users can access charging. The most commonly used types of charging stations are Type 2 (Mennekes) for AC charging and Type 3/CCS (Combined Charging System) or CHAdeMO for DC charging.
Car charging stations come in different power and charging capacities. Some provide a slower charge (four to eight hours), suitable for charging overnight or during the workday, while others offer a faster charge (30 minutes to several hours), which is more suitable for commuting motorists.
